Introducing Steve Burns
Steve enjoying a ride (too sunny for Scotland??!!)
Well here we are only days away from Doddie’s Grand Tour 2025.
I’m a newbie to the group and have never done anything like this before.
I got involved with a certain Mr Ian Barr when my wife & I joined a local spin class. I’d been enjoying leisure cycling for well over a decade but now it was time to look at a new way of keeping fit, my football legs were starting to give up on me and the time had come to do something new. Indoor cycling also gave my wife comfort, instead of being out on the road trying to avoid potholes / bollards and a visit to hospital in the back of an ambulance. Indoor spin was surely a safer option….right ?
Spin also gave an additional calorie burn to enjoy a “small” glass of red while cooking up some fine delights in the kitchen. I’ve also been known to shake 1 or 2 of my signature espresso martini’s #nottomcruise. All of this while not adding inches around my waist, which can’t be bad. 🤭
I listened to Ian Barr’s story about The All Roads Lead to Rome challenge last year. His passion and his want to help to make a difference, drew me in. There began my want to support if only a little to raise awareness & money into the much needed research into MND.
We start The Extended Grand Tour of engagement & raising awareness of MND on Sunday 2nd February in Warrington. The challenge this year won’t be so much the distances but the chilly weather, cycling in the mountains of Scotland, we must be mad…or just driven by desire to help find a cure for this horrible disease.
Let’s make a difference Do it for Doddie, let’s start planting the trees today to help everyone see them grow in the future.
